The rules of our forum are simple, as long as you keep to them. There are things we allow, and there are things we do not allow. Simple deal. The phrases in bold are general rules, and under each is an explanation.
Keep active.
This is usually not a hard rule to follow, but after the excitement of your first week with the forums, you tend to slack on activity. We all have school, jobs, college, boyfriends, girlfriends, and a life and whatnot, but you can manage to check in for 5-10 minutes a day or every other day, even if it's just a message left on the chatbox or a quick 'hello' in the OOC boards, we just want you know you are here. For more information about absence notices and how to apply for lurker status, please visit the Absence Log.
Do not spam.
Spam can come in many different forms, and we want no part of it. There's no need to repost a topic over and over to get our attention, and there is definitely no need for "bumps." In short, don't try to sell us anything and don't be a nuisance.
Let us do our jobs.
While it's nice that you may want to help out, doing our jobs for us is something very unnecessary. Unless you are on the Crosswind staff, do not assume you should handle an administrative situation just because we aren't there. If a flame war has started, do not add to the fire. Report it to the administration. If you see rule infractions, don't handle it yourself -- report it. Problems on the site are handled by a staff team; that's what we're here for. Your job is to report problems, and we'll handle the issues.
No trash.
While we allow R-Rated posts in character (as long as they are tagged accordingly), anything past PG-13 on the OOC boards is strictly prohibited. Do not post pornography, anything relative to pornographic pictures, overly gorey pictures or links, and CERTAINLY not any links that would cause any damage or harm to computers. (virus-sites, trojans, etc.) If you are unsure of something, run it by an administrator first.
Be smart.
We aren't here to babysit you. Everyone here is an adult or at least old enough to have common sense and know right from wrong. You can figure out something if you stop and think, and if you're in doubt--then check the site. We have a plethora of information available for you to read, so use it. If you have no clue what you're doing, then you should possibly join another forum, because this is an advanced rpg environment, not a place for beginners.
Respect your peers.
No one here is better than another person -- we are equal, so we expect you to treat each other equally. Don't be rude to another member just because they might now know as much as you do, or aren't as old to the community. We are all friends here, and we are all here to roleplay and have fun, so please be polite to each other.
Have fun.
This site was made for entertainment and enjoyment, not to imprison you. We want you to enjoy being here, andif you are here, you should WANT to be here. We don't want this site to become a chore for you to the point you're having to drag yourself in once a week (or every two weeks) to reply to a thread. Don't make this roleplay a chore, make it fun and do only as much as you are comfortable with. If you just can't keep up with the forum, then we understand. We will never be angry with you if the day comes that you can no longer be a part of our forum. Just let us know if you're having trouble staying active or want to leave. We will work with you to figure something out.
Be realistic.
This is a wolf and human rpg set in what can be described as Eastern Europe in the 1940's. We don't have flying, pink, lazer-eyed wolves and kids running around in the latest prada top and jeans. Please, keep to the setting, and keep it realistically based. If you are unsure of something, then just ask an administrator.
Post length.
We're not asking for an essay (even though quite a few of us enjoy that writing that length), just a thick paragraph or two per post. As a courtesy, please try to mirror the post length to any thread you join. In other words, if the thread starter has three paragraphs, try to write the same amount. This is just a courtesy to return the quality given.
Grammar and syntax.
Proper grammar in threads is very important to us, because it is simply more desirable to have a clean post rather one with errors, misspellings, and general messiness. Spellcheck your work before you post, and definitely read back over it before hitting that "send" button. It saves us the extra work. We ask that all your posts be in past-tense, third-person point of view and when you are speaking directly, you speak first-person with the words enclosed by quotation marks and (preferrably) in bold.
Liquid time.
In regards to time, we allow you to post as many threads as you can keep up with. Basically, the forum is in liquid time. You follow your own chronological timeline for your character(s), and each of their posts' time order does not have to correlate with the others (unless you want them to--in which we strongly advise to invest into keeping a mental or written timeline for them in case you forget). This allows for the maximum amount of activity flow between members and also gives you the chance to roleplay other threads while waiting for a reply.
Character relationships.
In-character conduct is completely different than out-of-character conduct. While you can get in trouble for calling another member an asshole while out of character, this does not apply to when you are roleplaying. Two characters can hate each other, but this does not mean the actual users who play who play the characters hate one another. Obviously. Try and remember this seperation of relationships when you roleplay. Just because someone's character hates your character doesn't mean the actual user hates you. They are just roleplaying their character.
Tag your threads.
We ask that you label all of your roleplay threads so that things stay organized. These tags are also convenient for communicating information about your thread to other members.
[s] solo thread - a thread done by a single user; short story.
[m] mature - an adult-rated post
[aw] all welcome - any member(s) may join
[p] private - only certain member(s) may join. You may also specify which members this applies to.
[arc] archive - a finished, completed thread ready for archiving
Group roleplays.
When you are in a group roleplay of 3 or more people, we ask that you go in chronological order of who posted first. Do not skip a user and keep roleplaying, because no one will be able to keep up if you move ahead without them. Wait your turn, and post accordingly. Keep in mind these types of roleplays can be more difficult and advanced to do (depending on the situation), so make sure to keep a continuos flow of OOC communication going on between one another and make sure you are following a general timeline of events so no one just goes off all over the place with their post.
Fighting.
You should know the rules of fighting by now. We ask that you first talk it over with the member(s) whose character(s) you want to fight before starting, and make sure they are okay with it. As per normal--no auto-hits, auto-kills, godmoding, powerplaying, or any of that garbage. If you don't know what that means, please refer to our Roleplaying Dictionary for further help. Remember, you must have permission before killing another character. (NOTE: The only instance in which we allow powerplaying is when it involves progressive roleplaying, which is also defined in our dictionary. This is a very involved, and painstakingly planned, complex form of roleplaying, so please do not attempt to do it unless you are capable.)
